Any recommendations for a CCW class/instructor, either in Tucson or within a reasonable distance (say 30 minute drive) of Chandler, AZ?
Sarah and I are looking to take a CCW class, preferably one that’s good with women and, this particular case, couples. We’re looking for someone who’s knowledgeable, yet not overbearing. I’ve done the whole army thing and been yelled at by men in big hats — I don’t feel the need to do that again.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The guy my brother got his CCW through is a pretty civil and level-headed guy. I also know him from playing airsoft with him. He’s located in the Tucson area so that makes it pretty easy for you.

Generations Firearm Training (www.generationsfirearm.com). Jim is the Chief Instructor at Rio Salado, so he’s had plenty of experience training women and men of all ages. My NRA Basic Pistol class with him was 1/4 women, and they had a blast.
SCQueen and I got ours from Caswells in Mesa (just north of Chandler). The instructors does a really good job.

I really, really like Charles Heller when it comes to CCW training. He’s NRA certified, has helped write some of the AZ gun laws, is affiliated with the AZCDL, and is a super nice guy, to boot. He does classes at Second Amendment Sports on Pima, or you can find his contact info if you Google Liberty Watch Radio- he’s the host of that show.
My wife got hers through Scottsdale Gun Club, and found it enjoyable. There were a lot of women in the class with her.
Also Derby guns is a husband and wife team who instruct; and they’re great.
My wife and I got our CCW’s via Caswells and it was a good experience.
This, I am affraid a lil north of what you want, but, in Prescott Valley is Matt Seibert and his wife who run Insight.

I would say that they have an excellent training set up for the CCW and several other firearms training.
